It Will Be Spring Soon...

And spring is the time we plan to move here.  It will be a bittersweet time.  I have bought up some "new" retired Corelle dinnerware on ebay, to replace my heavy stoneware.  My back and shoulders won't handle cumbersome items that are stored above my head.  It I store things up in cupboards, they will stay there, and we will eat off paper plates.  So out with the old and in with the new old.  Summer Blush pattern with colorful, red, yellow and purple pansies on them will work well with the kitchen colors and fixtures.  I had been looking at Corelle for a  while, but couldn't find a pattern that I liked.  Then I went on ebay and found this pattern, and I've now bought piecemeal, all the pieces that I think I'll need.  I'm debating the matching canister set.  I have a set of bean pots that I use as canisters which I received as a wedding present way long time ago.  I have a sentimental attachment to them, but don't know if I should carry on with them.  They are VERY HEAVY and from about 1970.  Maybe I could use them somewhere else...

  1. Now & then, I've wondered how this is going, and now I know. It sounds as if you're thinking smart, despite the nostalgia. I still have kept a bunch, & sometimes miss what I sold, but then there are other times I wish I had less. Best wishes in the coming days, the ups and downs, Donna.

    1. It's difficult. I hate it when I get rid of something and then wish I still had it! The new house is cottage sized really, so lots has to go. We lived without anything after the fire, living in a motel for 11 months. We can do it again!
We are meeting with the contractor Saturday to get the deck and new roof on and order the kitchen cabinets. Lots of little details after that, but it should come together by late May or June.

    2. Sounds like a plan! I don't know if it will help, but. . . I had the convenience of moving before I had to sell my house, so I moved everything I was sure I wanted first, and then had the sale, then got the house ready to sell. When I returned over those months, sometimes I brought a few things back with me, but not much. I still do remember so much, yet it wasn't much that I miss. I think the best is that it was a first step of downsizing, as you are doing. There will be less to do later! Hugs for the doing!

    3. Yes! That's what we are going to do, too. We'll leave here what we won't really need, to "stage" the house for sale, moving what we do want/need in the new house. We'll live in the new while selling the old. Our kids will have first dibs on what they want, siblings next, yard sale third, and dumpster last!
